Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been reviewing, redesigning and structuring winning plans for my clients for the upcoming year. While they’re busy implementing, I want to guide you through the same process to help YOU have your best year yet.
Deep inside all of us, we have the desire to matter. We all want to live a life worth living. Yet, few will truly experience it.
Before you do anything else, you need to ask yourself the question…What is the PURPOSE of my life? What will make my life worth living?
Dr. Saul Miller, a top Canadian sport consultant who works with Olympians and high-level athletes, says the following about purpose:
People who have a meaningful goal are willing to work harder, persist longer, and endure more… and all of these qualities lead to success.
Finding purpose in your life should be on the top of your priority list. Purpose either gives meaning to activities or takes it away. It helps you to invest your time, energy and resources in your area of most impact. Purpose will help you set boundaries so that you can say ‘no’ to the tasks that aren’t aligned with where you’re heading. Then you will be free to pursue the out-of-the-box ideas that will take you in the right direction.Purpose is personal and nobody can give it to you. You need to find it yourself. Click To Tweet
Purpose is personal and nobody can teach it or give it to you. You need to discover it for yourself. If you’re still not sure about what the purpose of your life is, check out an interview I did a couple of months ago on this topic. In this interview I’ll take you behind the scenes of finding my purpose and how it affected my decisions. Click here to access the recording.
Whether you lead a large organization or a small household, trust is the foundation of strong relationships and great results. Whether we are talking about family, a team or customers, you must invest the time into earning the trust of those around you if you want to make a difference and make your life count.
If you break that trust, you will pay the price. You will need to work through the resistance of others day in and day out. If those around you do not trust you, you can’t expect to live a powerful life. Choose to be a person of character, a person others can trust and I guarantee you that you will get further, faster.Choose to be a person of character and you will get further, faster. Click To Tweet
Oh, the ‘C’ word that nobody likes to talk about. After working with people from around the globe in different positions, statuses and income levels, I will tell you that no matter what stage or position you are in right now, you aren’t going to last long or get far if you lack a sense of commitment toward what you’re doing. A lack of commitment will break the trust and rapport you worked so hard to build with others and you will find that you are not able to fulfill your purpose.
It takes commitment to get things done and it takes commitment to get through the yucky stuff in life. Life is tough, but you need to be tougher if you want to finish the run and win. Do you have what it takes?
