There are times when we all feel stuck when it comes to goal setting. I am no exception.
The following are some activities I personally use to help me get back on track, and set goals that matter to me, without getting stuck in the ‘what ifs’. They enable me to overcome my limiting beliefs and dream BIG.
Are you ready?
Here we go…
1. You’ve just won $40 million dollars!
Imagine that you just won the jackpot. There are no financial restrictions holding you back from accomplishing ANYTHING you want in life. What would your life look like? What do you WANT to do in life? How do you want your life and work to look? How are you going to use your time, energy, and money?
This exercise helps you set goals that excite you and fulfil your purpose. Because when money is not an issue, we all want to do what matters. Suddenly day-to-day stuff becomes irrelevant. You choose to step into your passion and purpose.
Go for it. Write it down, create a vision board, record yourself talking about what your life is going to look like from this day forward.
2. You only have 6 months to live
Imagine that there’s a time restriction ahead of you. How would you spend your last days? What would matter to you? What do you want to accomplish? What is so important that you want to spend your last days focusing on?
I believe it was Martin Luther who once said: Plan like you have thousand years to live. Live like today is your last day.
Making every day matter is what helps you create powerful results. It’s a daily habit, not a random act.
3. Make a list of your fears and roadblocks
We can plan until we’re blue in the face, but unless we recognize what’s stopping us from stepping out and achieving our goals, we will never be able to succeed. Whether you’re just starting goal setting or you’ve been doing it for some time now, you’ve most likely experienced hitting the wall.
It’s that point where you no longer believe in your goal and are unable to keep moving forward. At this point many give up and go back to their comfort zones.
This is time when you need to get real and identify your roadblock. What is it that makes your heart sink? What are you really afraid of? There can be past hurt, a fear of the unknown, fear of people, or anything else.
Until you recognize and face it, you will continue to be stuck.
Your goal is to design a game plan to help you move through or around your roadblock to achieve the results you want. Get all the help you need to do so, and you will be victorious!
