I was recently asked to speak at yet another telesummit. I speak on a lot of different topics from building an online business, through social media to personal development and leadership and I enjoy it a lot. But this time it was different. My topic was to talk about transformation.
Being a natural innovator, this invitation instantly got my attention and I picked my topic: The Search For Purpose.
We all naturally search for purpose to our lives. Somehow we know that there has to be more to our lives than what we have or who we are right now.
If I had to use one word to describe my life, Purpose would absolutely win above any competition.
1. Purpose at the breaking point
I was in charge of large project for an unnamed organization and everything was going incredibly well. Until I was asked to misuse the money allocated to the project. But I believed that compromising my integrity and other’s trust was a big no-no. I refused and continued with the project as planned.
Who would have thought that instead of a ‘thank you’ I would experience false accusations, even threats? It was the search for purpose that led me to build my own non-profit organization when all the stakes were against me. In the midst of this fight for integrity, I knew that there had to be more. There had to be a way to help kids who had nobody to trust or believe in them.
This is how “my” non-profit organization JONA was born. I stepped out of my comfort zone, at one of the weakest points in my life and paved a path for others to walk on. Instead of giving up, something beautiful was born – an organization that continues to service hundreds of families and children in Eastern Slovakia, Europe.

My past “fame” of building a wonderful non-profit was forgotten, my life moved on, I was raising two wonderful girls but felt stuck between what I used to be and where I currently was. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you knew that your talents, gifts and abilities could be used for something much bigger than what you were doing, than you will know what I’m talking about.
I could no longer remember what I was supposed to do or be and started to look up to other people for validation and approval. This led to even more frustration, because as you probably know, nobody can give you purpose, you have to find it for yourself.
Nobody can give you your #purpose, you have to find it for yourself. Click To TweetIt wasn’t until I realized that…
- everything I’m looking for is already in me – who I am is good enough!
- my purpose is not to be somebody or do something in the future, it’s to be and do my best in any given moment – today!
- self-discovery time is GOOD for me and when done well, it will always moves me forward
It was during this time that I discovered that who I was, was great and that leading with my strengths was the only way to make a difference. Discovering who I am brought a whole lot of freedom to my life. Suddenly I didn’t have to mourn after what was, but I was able to let go and move on to the next stage of my life. You can do the same. One more thought before I let you go back to the world out there… If you’re searching for purpose in your life, you’re actually on the right path. You’re further than most of the population that haven’t even started to think in these terms. Where you go from here will make a difference in how your future is going to play out. I encourage you to be bold and free.
