Success doesn’t just happen. YOU make it happen! And one of the first things you need to tackle in order to turn your dreams into reality is to choose your FOCUS for the year. Following are my top 3 tips to help you choose your focus wisely in 2017.
1. Look at ALL areas of your life
Chances are that you know people who set goals in single category – they want to improve their health or grow their business. And we’ve all seen the disastrous effect of this decision – broken marriages in cases where people fail to focus on their families or financial disasters if they fail to watch their financials. Focusing on single category will create imbalance in your life that might have terrible consequences. Look at your life as a whole and consider your personal well-being and growth, as well as family, relationships, finances, social & community life alongside of your career goals.
2. Less is more
You’ve most likely heard about 80/20 rule. When it comes to productivity, it means that 80% of your activities contribute to 20% of your results, while 20% of your activities contribute to 80% of your results. I encourage you to start paying attention to where you time is going and what results you’re creating. Focus your best time and energy on the top 20% of your activities and you will see significant shift in the amount and quality of your results. Notice what tasks or projects can be delegated or deleted to create more space for things that are truly important.
3. Team always trumps individual
You can play a lone wolf, but when you choose to partner up with others, your results will improve significantly. As you look at your focus for 2017, re-evaluate the tasks in front of you, keep the tasks that are in your strength zone and delegate the rest to others who are better, faster or more skilled in the tasks that drag you down.
There you have it, my top 3 tips to help you refocus and create better results in 2017. Have a great one!
